MTMSA является составной частью Информационной системы для морских терминалов (Marine Terminal Information System - MTIS)
С помощью этих трех программ OCIMF собирает и предоставляет доступ к важной информации и передовому опыту своих членов — нефтеперерабатывающих компаний и других организаций — в сфере обеспечения безопасности, и дает рекомендации по повышению эксплуатационной безопасности, надежности, производительности и по охране окружающей среды. В OCIMF была создана специальная рабочая группа по морским терминалам для регулярного контроля системы MTIS и поиска возможностей для усовершенствования — включая ответы на вопросы и комментарии пользователей.
